Different approaches for different types of colds
While colds may all look alike on the surface, the underlying conditions can be vastly different. Western medicine focuses on viruses, bacteria, and the presence of complications; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), on the other hand, assesses symptoms—such as aversion to cold, sweating, nasal discharge, thirst, and the appearance of the tongue—to determine whether the condition is primarily "wind-cold" or "wind-heat."
